Cutting Garden Quilt – Zinnia

 

Create a beautiful Zinnia quilt with the look of a painting, but it’s made entirely of fusible fabrics.

Class materials fee of $65.00 includes pattern, all pattern pieces, fusible web, and hand-dyed fabric pack in your choice of flower color.

 

Note:  Hand dyed fabric packs DO NOT include greens for the leaves.

 

You need to bring to class: 

·         Background fabric in a dark color, cut to size 26” X 28”

·         Large sharp scissors, paper and fabric

·         Ultra-fine and bold-tip black sharpie markers

·         Glass head straight pins

·         Tweezers or stiletto

·         Clear medium weight vinyl to use as a layout guide, cut to 26”x 28”

Designing Your Own Flower Quilt

 

This class is designed to show you how to take your own flower photo and turn it into a Fabulous Flower Quilt.   Basic drawing and tracing supplies are needed.  There will be a how-to PowerPoint demonstration and then a hands-on time making a pattern from your photos for you to enlarge later. I will show you tricks for training your eyes to see the detail in a petal or a leaf and how to translate it into your drawing and then into fabric.  Class materials fee of $35 includes a Color Finder © tool and an enlarging tool.

 

Topics covered will include:

·         How to choose fabrics colors

·         How to paint with fabric

·         How to enlarge your drawing including how big to go

·         We will discuss the use of Renegade Thread Play to finish your quilt

 

You need to bring to class:

·         Paper and pencil

·         Tape

·         Ultra-fine tip Sharpie marker

·         Vellum or artist tracing paper, sheet size 8 ½” x 11”

·         Your original photo plus an enlarged 8” X 10” copy of your original photo printed on regular copy paper, so you can draw on it.
