Fresh As A Daisy
2007
54” x 54”

I love to walk through my garden and get inspired. Not much was blooming in late summer, but the periwinkle agapanthus, white daisy, a few old hydrangeas and one big pink Day Lilly. I picked the group, arranged them and took pictures.  To my surprise, this little bunch became my inspiration. I also tried something new with my quilting. Instead of choosing my normal busy backing fabric for my quilt (to hide the stitches from the judges.) I chose a plain black fabric. I also used the same thread in the bobbin (30 weight) as on the top of the quilt. I now have a thread painting on the back of this quilt.

It's a fun little surprise. Just like the flowers I found in late Summer.

Have you ever seen a flower down
Sometimes angels skip around
And in their blissful state of glee
Bump into a daisy or sweet pea.
